Dear WAI Interest Group Participants,

We've been redesigning our website, including the visual design and information architecture. Additionally, the Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG) is updating and revising most of its resources.

A "beta" redesign of the WAI website is available from:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/beta/

The beta is mostly complete, yet there are some open issues. It is not stable, that is, we may fix errors and make updates at any time.

*Please see* updated status information, a list of known issues, and more at:
https://github.com/w3c/wai-website/wiki/W3C-WAI-Website-Redesign-Information

Comments: We welcome your feedback and input. Please submit any comments on the overall site before 6 April 2018.

*For comments on the overall site* (user interface, navigation, accessibility, etc.):
* Create a new GitHub issue for each point at: <https://github.com/w3c/wai-website/issues/new>
* If you are not comfortable with GitHub, send e-mail to: <wai-site-***@w3.org>

*For comments on the content*, please use the links under "Help improve this page" on the specific page. We prefer for you to create a new GitHub issue or pull request. If you're not comfortable with GitHub, you can send e-mail.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your comments.

Hi, WAI Interest Group Participants,

We made several user interface changes since the beta version we announced in March (e-mail below). The updated redesign of the WAI website is now available from:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/beta/

*We encourage you to use the beta now to get familiar with it*. We expect to replace the existing WAI website in May.

The new website makes it easier to find and use information to help you improve web accessibility. It has significant revisions for better usability, readability, skimmability, findability, discoverability, and content throughout. The visual design, information architecture, and navigation is all new. Much of the content is revised. It's also easier for the community to be involved in improving resources. Many content updates are already done in the beta, and others are planned for the coming months.

Please see <https://github.com/w3c/wai-website/wiki/W3C-WAI-Website-Redesign-Information> for:
* Known issues we're working on
* Updated status information
* Acknowledgements
* How to comment links

We welcome your help in sharing this information widely.

Shawn,

I thought the ARIA Authoring Practice would be mentioned at this URL:
https://www.w3.org/WAI/beta/design-develop/

Are they referenced somewhere else?

Hi Jon,

This is exactly the kind of review we want and need - thank you! If
possible, can you use the GitHub link
<https://github.com/w3c/wai-website/wiki/W3C-WAI-Website-Redesign-Information>
at the bottom of the beta pages so we can track and document how issues are
addressed?

Thanks again!

Hi All,
In review of the site at 320 CSS px. There is a "back to top button" that
floats in the middle of the text. I have attached a screen image.

The change text size / color should be dropped. It needs to be explained in
light of new SC additions. People should be directed to use browsers' and
eBook readers' settings rather than other tricks.

WCAG 2.1 has changed the philosophy of enlargement deferring to the
browsers zoom. This is because the font-size does not trigger responsive
breakpoints.

We really need to research color because AGWG didn't want to touch it.

That is all for now,
Regards, Wayne

Thanks, that pattern is not working well in landscape mode. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. (I documented the issue here: https://github.com/w3c/wai-website/issues/71)

The change text size or colors link links to a page that explains users where to find guidance to customize their browsers, so I guess that page is exactly what you want :-)
